The invention relates to a method for spam blocking in an e-mail system, in which particularly a challenge-response method is applied that comprises a white list having e-mail addresses from which e-mails may be sent to an e-mail client (recipient) of the e-mail system. Intermediate steps are proposed for said challenge-response method in order to contain the distribution of spam. For applications in which a computer-generated response is expected, said intermediate steps include providing channel addresses that are able to circumvent the challenge-response method. In addition, options are proposed for evaluating characteristics that spam entails and reacting to said characteristics. |
