The invention relates to a novel nutraceutical composition containing Zanthoxlyum bungeanum whole-fruit extract as active ingredient. The term "nutraceutical" as used herein denotes usefulness in nutritional, pharmaceutical and veterinary fields of application. The compositions are useful for improvement of cognitive functions, such as learning, memory and alertness, psychotic stability and maintenance.
