The procedure for the manufacture of the folding type of cigarette packets involves having unfolded, flat blanks (10) preformed in the region of the round edges (14,15) or angled edges by means of rounding or angle forming tools and then processed in a packing machine. The blanks during continuous transportation are shaped to form round or angled edges and then formed back in the flat initial position. The preformed, flat again blanks are gathered into a stack (37) which as a unit is then subjected to counter-forming of the preformed round or angled edges. An Independent claim is included for a system for the manufacture of folding cigarette packets in accordance with the proposed procedure.
