PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry and classify coal in a fluidized bed utilizing a coke oven exhaust gas, while relieving problems of the temperature and lowering of the flow rate of the coke oven exhaust gas thereby preventing lowering of drying performances to prevent lowering of the production amount of pretreated coal and also preventing ignition of coal in the fluidized bed at the same time. SOLUTION: The method for fluidized bed-drying and classifying coal comprises feeding a coke oven exhaust gas and an exhaust gas from the fluidized bed to a hot-air generation furnace, heating both the exhaust gases by air combustion of a fuel in the hot-air generation furnace to convert them into hot air, introducing the hot air into the fluidized bed, and drying and classifying, in the fluidized bed, coal thrown into a coke oven, where a mixed gas of exhaust gases from a plurality of halved furnace groups having different timing of combustion switching is used as the coke oven exhaust gas and the oxygen concentration in the hot air is controlled so that it is not higher than a predetermined concentration at the time of combustion switching between the halved furnace groups thereby to prevent ignition of coal in the fluidized bed is prevented.
