<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel, which is improved in the sealing ability of a seal and can maintain bearing performance over a long time. <P>SOLUTION: In the bearing device for the wheel comprising the seal 8 mounted between an outer member 3 and an inner ring 5, a backup seal 13 is arranged at the outer side of the seal 8. The backup seal 13 includes a core metal 14 having a cylindrical part 14a pressed in the end outer periphery on the outer side of the outer member 3, a flange section 14b extended radially outward therefrom, and a cylindrical protecting part 14c extended axially, and also a sealing member 17 fastened to the core metal 14, integrally having a fixing portion 17a constituting a labyrinth seal 18 opposed to a side face 6c of a wheel mounting flange 6 via a slightly axial clearance α and a side lip 15b extended inclining radially outward.
