The method involves initiating a supply of a toothing of an azimuth rotary connection with a lubricant by using a lubricant pump that is controlled by a controlling device of a wind energy plant, when a rotating process of a machine housing of the wind energy plant is detected or when a predetermined lubrication condition is fulfilled. The lubrication condition depends on whether the rotating process is a rotating process for untwisting of electrical cables running between a tower of the wind energy system and the machine housing or another rotating process.
