<p>The arc stud welding device for connecting a stud (6) with a workpiece (4) via a welded joint (10), comprises a screening element (2), which is made of ferromagnetic material for reducing magnetic force directed transverse to the symmetry axis of the stud and arranged around an end area (8) of the pin turned to the joint. The screening element is arranged on the workpiece, is shaped as circular, hexagon or octagon, comprises a wall with a thickness of 0.1-20 millimeters and a height of 10 millimeters, and is formed from a grid or perforated plate or other material provided with openings. The screening element is further formed as support pipe, gas ring, adjusting element for a welding template and/or heavy element and comprises two screening element parts, which are movably or tiltably arranged relative to each other. The device includes a welding gun, which comprises a means for holding the stud before the welding process. The screen element is movably arranged at the welding gun or intended as element separable from the welding gun.
