<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clutch device for an outboard motor capable of reducing a shock or noise in performing switching between forward and reverse movement, and of reducing water resistance during navigation. <P>SOLUTION: A forward hydraulic clutch mechanism 16 is allocated on a power transmission path between a forward gear 14 and a propeller shaft 12 in order to connect or disconnect the power transmission path. A reverse hydraulic clutch mechanism 17 is allocated on a power transmission path between a reverse gear 15 and the propeller shaft 12 in order to connect or disconnect the power transmission path. Hydraulic chambers 31, 32 are formed respectively between the forward hydraulic clutch mechanism 16 and the forward gear 14 and between the reverse hydraulic clutch mechanism 17 and the reverse gear 15. Through the application of hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic chambers 31, 32 selectively, a frictional force is produced on the forward hydraulic clutch mechanism 16 or the reverse hydraulic clutch mechanism 17, thereby conveying a driving force of the forward gear 14 or the reverse gear 15 to the propeller shaft 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
