A steering control apparatus is provided to limit driving of a motor with a motor driving limiting unit based on the comparison result of the information obtained from an on-board LAN and the information transmitted from a main calculation unit through a communication unit. A steering control apparatus comprises a main calculation unit(200) which is accessed to an on-board LAN, a motor drive circuit(102) which is accessed to the main calculation unit and operates the motor, a sub calculation unit(300) which is accessed to the on-board LAN, and a motor driving limit unit(104) which is accessed to the sub calculation unit and limits driving of the motor. The main calculation unit and sub calculation unit are connected to the on-board LAN through on-board LAN transceivers(101a,101b). The sub calculation unit limits driving of the motor with the motor driving limit unit based on the comparison result of the value from the information obtained from the on-board LAN and the value transmitted from the main calculation unit through the communication unit.
