METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SELECTING AN EFFICIENT ACK TYPE IN WIBRO/MOBILE WIMAX

A method and an apparatus for selecting an efficient ACK type are provided to reduce unnecessary network traffic by minimizing the size of data retransmitted from the peer side by using the minimum feedback IE size. An ARQ_ACK_TYPE_CAPABILITY value is obtained in a data transmission process between a wibro terminal and a wibro base station(101). The ARQ ACK TYPE CAPABILITY value includes information about the ACK TYPE which the wibro terminal and the wibro base station. The ACK TYPE set supporting the wibro terminal and the wibro base station is determined from the obtained ARQ_ACK_TYPE_CAPABILITY value(103). The ACK TYPE with the minimum feedback IE size among the ACK TYPE minimizing the data size retransmitted from a peer side is selected among the ACK TYPE set(105).
