<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive image forming apparatus which excels in user's operability and achieves space saving. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a movable member positioning a cartridge to a first position where the cartridge is energized to a predetermined spot of a frame and a second position where the cartridge is retracted from the predetermined position of the frame and can be taken out from a main assembly. The movable member has urging members 43K and 44K urging a process cartridge when the movable member takes the first position, and a guiding member 110K movably attached to the movable member.
