PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a digital broadcast receiver capable of more easily updating software such as a program. SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver 100 is capable of switching one of a first storage unit 7 and a second storage unit 8 provided for storing control information extracted from a received digital broadcast signal into a standby state and the other into an active state. In the digital broadcast receiver 100, when upgraded control information is obtained, the upgraded control information can be first stored in one standby storage unit (second storage unit 8) and according to a situation that the operation control of the digital broadcast receiver 100 based on the upgraded control information has become possible, the standby state and the active state of the first storage unit 7 and the second storage unit 8 are switched to store the upgraded control information in the other storage unit (first storage unit 7), so that the upgraded control information can be backed up.
