PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum configuration while securing policy set by a manager of power-saving performance or response performance when optimizing the configuration of a storage device using a pool. SOLUTION: In this configuration optimization method, a management computer sets priority order to a volume of a storage subsystem according to the setting policy, and reserves the volume satisfying capacity of the pool in high-priority order. Only a part of the volumes is registered in the pool in the high-priority order from the reserved volumes. At that time, because it can be guaranteed that the volume not registered in the pool among the reserved volumes is not accessed from a host computer, a physical drive constituting the volume or a controller controlling the physical drive is set in a sleep state.
