<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording method capable of preventing disturbance from occurring in reproduction with a simple configuration when reproducing an AV stream composed by joining AV streams, and to provide a data editing method, a data decoding method, a data recorder, and a data decoder. <P>SOLUTION: The data recording method is used to record an AV stream composed of a plurality of record units RU including video units VU capable of independently reproducing at least images or sound and program information (Movie atom) for managing the AV stream on a recording medium. The program information has information (Edit list atom) for managing connection places between the record units or the AV streams.
