PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamed article suitable for an energy absorption material by using the expandable bead internal mold foaming method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the foamed thermoplastic resin article includes filling a molding space shaped by a couple of molds comprised of a core-type and a cavity-type with a pre-expanded thermoplastic resin particle, then heating the inside of the molding space. The thermoplastic resin contains a copolymer A comprising an aromatic vinyl unit, an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride unit and an N-alkyl-substituted maleimide unit as monomers, and a copolymer B comprising an aromatic vinyl unit and a vinyl cyanide unit as monomers.
