PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder equipped with a recording head which can be separated from an ink path without causing the ink to drip. SOLUTION: When an ink jet head 12-1 is removed from a first ink path pipe 13-1, the C-color ink 2-1 in the ink jet head 12-1 is discharged from a second ink path pipe 18-1 toward an accumulation tank 24 by a negative pressure applied to the ink jet head 12-1 via the ink path leading from the second ink path pipe 18-1 to the accumulation tank 24 and a lower sub ink tank 33, and at the same time, the C-color ink 2-1 in the ink jet head 12-1 is discharged by a negative pressure applied thereto 12-1 from a distribution tank 8 via other ink jet heads 12-2 and 12-3, the accumulation tank 24, and the lower sub ink tank 33.
