PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of an alloy slab by eliminating porous flaw and reducing blow-hole defect and the developing degree of surface wrinkle. SOLUTION: In a method for casting the alloy slab by pouring a magnesium alloy by dipping the tip end part of an immersion nozzle 5 into the molten metal L in a mold 6 descended at a velocity according to the molten metal pouring rate so as to make the molten metal surface Ls level constant, the tip end flowing path of the immersion nozzle 5 is formed as the two-division diverged flowing passages 521, 522, inclined from the horizontal to the lower part in the range of 5-10°of the inclining angleθof the respective flowing passages 521, 522 and also, the dipping depth D of the immersion nozzle 5 from the molten metal surface Ls, is set in the range of 20-50 mm and the molten metal velocity V in the immersion nozzle 5 is set in the range of 1.5-2.0 m/s.
