PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an installation member for supporting a steering column by a compact constitution. SOLUTION: This steering device includes a steering wheel, a shaft for transmitting rotational force from the steering wheel, a steering column supporting the shaft, a fitting bracket 36 for fitting the steering column to a vehicle body-side member 39, a rotational force assist mechanism for applying a rotational force to the shaft, and a tilt mechanism capable of changing a tilt angle of the steering column. The fitting bracket 36 has a support 74 supporting the steering column relative to the fitting bracket 36 so as to be tiltable, and a fixed portion 76 fixed to the vehicle body-side member 39. The fitting bracket 36 is constituted so that the fixed portion 76 and the support 74 are positioned in the same plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the shaft at a predetermined tilt angle within a range of a tilt range achievable by using the tilt mechanism.
