PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the flow channel area of a jet pump from reducing and keep its efficiency from being deteriorated as a clad layer growing on the bellmouth downstream wall appears after a long-term operation in a jet pump used for nuclear power generation by preventing or restraining the clad layer from appearing. SOLUTION: The jet pump equipped with a joint between the bellmouth and the throat and a nozzle for jetting fluid into the bellmouth is characterized in that through-holes penetrating from the outside wall of the bellmouth through the inside wall in the vicinity of the joint between the bellmouth and the throat are formed to generate a flow in a decompressed dead water region appearing in the throat by way of the through-holes.
