The method comprises transmitting a command to the terminal indicating a talk group or set of talk groups to use in a subsequent call. In response to receiving such a command the terminal selects the talk group or set of talk groups indicated in the command. Preferably, following the completion of the call, or following an input to the terminal from the user, the terminal is returned to a default or original talk group.
