The door has an external body panel (3), and a trim (4) made of plastic material. The trim is in wedge shape and comprises a triangular transversal section that is vertical and perpendicular to a plane of the door in usage position. The trim has an external lateral surface (9) adopting an internal surface of the external body panel, and a horizontal base surface (7) supported on a support panel (15) on a structure of the door. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a lateral door of a motor vehicle.
