PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch-based carbon short fiber filler with high thermal conductivity and high moldability and a composite molding material. SOLUTION: In the pitch-based carbon short fiber filler, a graphene sheet is closed at a filler end face when observed by a transmission electron microscope, while a surface observed by a scanning electron microscope is substantially flat, and the number average fiber length is 80 to 500μm.
