PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve timing device, reducing malfunction caused by leakage of oil from a cam journal, without increasing a total length of an engine. SOLUTION: First and second shaft oil passages 13, 14 formed to a camshaft 10, and first and second journal grooves 11, 12 formed to the cam journal 10a to connect between the first and second head oil passages 21, 22 formed to a cylinder head 20. A partition board 25 is formed between the first and second journal grooves 11, 12 of the cam journal, so that the width of a seal face of the cam journal 10a is increased.
