摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable compression ratio engine capable of restraining occurrence of knocking caused by variation of a compression ratio. SOLUTION: This variable compression ratio engine 1 varying a compression ratio by linking a piston 11 with a crankshaft 12 through a plurality of linkages, rotating a control shaft 20 for changing a position of an eccentric shaft 21 formed at the control shaft 20, controlling postures of the linkages, and changing a top dead center position of the piston, is provided with a drive motor 35 which rotates the control shaft 20, and a reduction mechanism which reduces rotational speed of the drive motor 35 and transmits the rotation to the control shaft 20. The reduction mechanism makes a reduction ratio of the drive motor 35 to the control shaft 20 at high compression ratios less than that at intermediate compression ratios. Therefore, it is possible to promptly change the compression ratio even when a vehicle is rapidly accelerated from low rotation speed and a low load operation range, which is a high compression ratio state, thus restraining occurrence of knocking.
