The method involves deforming sheet metal regions (14, 18) in a forming tool until ends (46, 48) of the sheet metal regions are supported at a corresponding retainer of the forming tool. The sheet metal regions are is deformed against a forming contour of the forming tool. A threaded plate (12) is provided as a reinforcing part for screwing a corresponding door hinge and/or a door-sided hinge part. The threaded plate is held by the sheet metal regions, where the sheet metal regions are formed as sheet metal lugs. An independent claim is also included for a device for forming a sheet metal component of a motor vehicle.
