<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense in advance that a residual fuel quantity of a fuel cartridge of a fuel cell system is little. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell system includes the fuel cartridge 180 for storing fuel, a fuel cell stack 130 for generating electric power by electrochemical reaction between the fuel and oxygen, a fuel pump 118 for sucking the fuel stored in the fuel cartridge, a pressure sensor 116 located in a fuel inflow passage 114 between a combined section of the fuel cartridge and the fuel pump, and a fuel quantity determination section 142 for determining a point of time wherein the fuel cartridge is nearly run out from pressure change sensed by the pressure sensor. Further, a determination method of a residual fuel quantity includes a pressure detection step of detecting pressure of the fuel inflow passage at a fuel cartridge side of the fuel pump, and a residual fuel quantity lessening determination step of determining that fuel shortage is near when a changed range of pressure exceeds a first designated reference value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
