PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a recovery process of failure data in cooperative operation with a disk control unit of a lower level when a drive failure occurs in any one of a plurality of cascaded disk control units. SOLUTION: When failure occurs in a disk drive D2 of a disk control unit 22, data copy from the disk control unit 22 to the disk control unit 23 is continued even if a driver system is blocked. During the period, if the failure of the disk drive D2 is recovered, a data recovery process of the disk drive D2 shown as in Fig. 2 is carried out. More specifically, all data received from the disk control unit 23 as save data until the failure of the disk drive D2 is removed is copied to the disk drive D2. An updated part newly generated in the copy data area in the meantime is stored separately and this new updated data is also written to the disk drive D2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
