<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize easily a structure which cuts off only light of unnecessary wavelength and obtains light of necessary wavelength. <P>SOLUTION: A filter which selects and reflects a specific wavelength light is installed between a light source and a light guide body and the light reflected by the filter layer is converted into a different wavelength light by a phosphor layer and is emitted. Thereby, the light reflected by the filter layer is converted into a light that transmits the filter layer, and an illumination device with very high luminance efficiency and color reproducibility can be realized. Further, if a display element is installed on the emitting face of the illumination device, the light component absorbed by the display element is converted by the phosphor layer to transmit the display element.
