<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which is excellent in optical characteristics, such as high transmittance and small-induced birefringence of visible light ray, is excellent in moisture permeability and has excellent ultraviolet absorption performance, to provide a polarizing plate using the optical film, and to provide an image display device using the polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film used for polarizer protective film is composed of a polypropylene-based resin mixture which comprises: a polypropylene-based resin synthesized with a metallocene catalyst as a main component; and an ultraviolet ray absorbing metal oxide having the average particle size 5 to 90 nm and sorbitol type additive as a compounding agent, wherein the content of the ultraviolet ray absorbing metal oxide is 0.08 to 5.5 mass% with respect to the polypropylene-based resin mixture and the content of the sorbitol type additive is 0.03 to 0.5 mass% with respect to the polypropylene-based resin mixture. The polarizing plate prepared by forming the optical film at least on one surface of the polarizer and the image display device prepared by using the polarizing plate are also provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
