摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing resin having high water absorption capacity and low residual monomer content, and to provide a method for simply producing the water-absorbing resin by an inexpensive procedure. SOLUTION: The method for producing the water-absorbing resin includes a polymerization process in which an aqueous monomer solution containing a water-soluble unsaturated-carboxylic-acid ammonium salt is polymerized under the following conditions (1) and (2). (1) The content of the water-soluble unsaturated-carboxylic-acid ammonium salt in the aqueous monomer solution is in the range of from more than 50 mol% to 100 mol% or less of the total monomer. (2) The solution is subjected to UV irradiation using a radical photopolymerization initiator and a peroxide.
