The invention relates to a magnetic recording base made of a nonmagnetic base material and a magnetic layer which is applied thereto and is essentially composed of anisotropic magnetic materials which are finely dispersed in an inorganic polymer and are composed of a mixture of needle-shaped cobalt-modified iron oxide and chromium dioxide.
