<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly color-rendering desired emitted light color while avoiding generation of unintended interference fringes. <P>SOLUTION: A plane lighting system 10 includes a light guide plate 11 constituted by arraying "n" light guide blocks 21-28 obtained by cutting a transparent plate material of a predetermined thickness D at a predetermined pitch P and "n" LEDs 12-19 disposed at least on one end sides 35 of the "n" light guide blocks 21-28 opposite thereto.
