The arrangement has a separate suction device attached to cylinder lines (ZB1, ZB2) of an internal combustion engine. A line overlapped exhaust gas manifold consists of two partial exhaust gas manifolds (T1, T2), which are provided for cylinders (Z1-Z7). The cylinders with exhaust gases are brought together at an exhaust gas assembly position (zz1). A lambda sensor (S3a) is arranged at the partial exhaust gas manifold (T1) and/or another partial exhaust gas manifold (T2) for determining air-fuel ratio of cylinder lines. Other lambda sensors are equipped in the line overlapped manifold. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a mixture composition of an eight cylinder internal combustion engine.
