A rotary switch for controlling the heating elements of an electric cooker has three terminals L, I, II for connection to the elements and two terminals P1, P2 for connection to the supply leads. The movable contacts 22 ... 25 are arranged in a plane perpendicular to the switch shaft 13 and are controlled by a face cam, Fig. 3, having three concentric cam surfaces 19 ... 21. The movable contacts 23, 24 are connected respectively to the terminals P1, P2, are controlled by the inner cam surface 21 and co-operate with fixed contacts connected to the terminal I, whilst the movable contacts 22, 25 are connected respectively to the terminals P1, P2, are controlled by the surfaces 20, 19 respectively, and co-operate with fixed contacts connected to the terminals L, II. The movable contact members may be spring blades, as shown, or pivoted spring-biased rigid arms, Fig. 4 (not shown). |
