PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rotate a rotor for fixation by smaller rotational torque even if there exits a member which contacts with the surface of the rotor for fixation to generate sliding friction. SOLUTION: A fixing device is provided with a rotor for fixation which has, on its surface, diamond-shaped carbon layers G, N which contain Si elements and/or F elements, a contacting member which contacts with the diamond-shaped carbon layers G, N to generate sliding friction between the diamond-shaped carbon layers and the contacting member, and a pressing member which contacts with the outer circumference of the rotor for fixation to press the rotor for fixation, and fixes a toner to a recording medium in a part in which the rotor for fixation press-contacts with the pressing member. In addition, the fixing device is provided with a rotor for fixation, a contacting member which contacts with the rotor for fixation to generate sliding friction between the rotor for fixation and the contacting member, and diamond-shaped carbon layers G, N which contain Si elements and/or F elements on the face of the contacting member with which the rotor for fixation contacts.
