PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head substrate having high strength and hardly deformed or cambered. SOLUTION: The recording head substrate has a common supply port 9a, a plurality of independent supply ports 11a communicating with the common supply port 9a, and a plurality of ink passages 4a communicating with the respective independent supply ports 11a. The recording head substrate further has a plurality of discharge ports 6a communicating with the respective ink passages 4a, and energy generating elements for discharging liquid drops from the respective discharge ports 6a. The discharge ports 6a, the ink passages 4a and the energy generating elements are formed on the substrate, and the common supply port 9a and the independent supply ports 11a are formed in the substrate. The ink passages 4a extend in a direction parallel to the surface of the substrate, and the independent supply ports 11a extend in a direction orthogonal to the surface of the substrate.
