<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a running cost by reducing a required amount of nitrogen gas when reducing NOx in nitrogen gas using discharge. <P>SOLUTION: When reducing NOx by introducing NOx-containing gas from a gas inlet into a discharge vessel 6, reducing by performing discharge inside, and circulating the gas, a wire electrode is provided at the center of a metallic cylinder 12 for a grounding electrode by supporting with a resin spring, and carbon rods 7-10 are inserted from a resin disc 15 at an end part. High voltage is applied to the discharge vessel 6 to induce discharge for reducing NOx, while oxygen generated is converted to CO or CO<SB>2</SB>by the reaction with the carbon rods inserted into the discharge vessel 6 to reduce oxygen inhibiting NOx reduction, to thereby make service life of nitrogen gas longer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
