Disclosed is a use of a pharmaceutically effective amount of a mixture of polyphenols for the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of a pre-cancerous lesion of the skin of a patient, wherein the pre-cancerous lesion is selected from the group consisting of: actinic keratosis, solar keratosis, Bowen's disease, actinic cheilitis and leukoplakia, and wherein the polyphenols are selected from the group consisting of catechol, catechol gallate, epicatechol, epicatechol gallate, epigallocatechol, epigallocatechol gallate, gallocatechol and gallocatechol gallate. The polyphenol may be combined with an additive selected from the group consisting of petroleum jelly, wax, oleyl alcohol, propylene glycol monostearate, propylene glycol monopalmitostearate and/or isopropyl myristate, and it may also be contained in a carrier selected from the group consisting of an emulsion, a gel, a cream and/or an ointment. |
