<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of reading a bar code. <P>SOLUTION: This bar code reader has: a scanner part 18 reading a bar code image comprising bar data showing widths of a plurality of bars of the bar code from the bar code; and a CPU (Central Processing Unit) 11 decoding the read bar code image, determines matching of character widths of respective characters of the decoded bar code image, setting a character portion having the matched character widths of the bar code image as a decoded area, detecting the division number of a bar of the character other than the set decoded area, composing the bar data corresponding to the division number following the bar data of the character, and restoring and decoding the bar code image including the composed bar data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
