A radar system is disclosed for locating objects in a region 1 having a high degree of multipath susceptibility. The radar system comprises a plurality of transducers, each being a transmit antenna 5a-d or receive antenna 8a-d, and being arranged about the region 1 in known locations, to form a bi-static or multi-static radar 10. Signals transmitted by the transmit antenna(s) 5a-d are received at each receive antenna 8a-d and processed to form a set of channel impulse responses or power delay profiles representative of the region at a given time. A second set of channel impulse responses or power delay profiles are formed at a different time. The difference between the two sets contain information on movement within the region 1. The difference may be processed to locate the moving object(s) by generating an x-y image representative of the region, and accumulating at each pixel, appropriate values of the profile difference, selected according to the propagation delay between a transmit-receive antenna pair via a region point represented by the pixel. |
