PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die cushion device of a press machine which can suppress the cost for newly providing a position detector and a speed detector, streamline the software of controlling the die cushion device, and easily and usefully controlling the operation of a die cushion. SOLUTION: At least one of the movement quantity and the moving speed of a slide is calculated, and the operation of a die cushion device is controlled based on the result of calculation based on the rotational quantity of a rotational member and approximate formulae (M1, M2, M3, M4).
