<p>It is an object to propose a registration device, a registration method, an authentication device and an authentication method that can carry out high speed authentication with the suppression of an increase in memory capacity. A characteristic region contained in a living body image is detected from the living body image of an authentication subject. From a plurality of living body information stored in a memory means, portions with the same shape and size as those of the characteristic region are cut out based on position information made to correspond to the living body information, respectively. In response to the degree of similarity between each of those portions and the characteristic region in the living body image of the authentication subject, a candidate to be checked with the living body image of the authentication subject is selected from the plurality of living body information.Whether or not the candidate is a registered person is judged based on a living body shown by the selected living body information and the checked result of the living body in the living body image of the authentication subject.</p> |
