PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction device that automatically stops its suction operation according to the amount of a sucked material stored in a container, so it has improved operation reliability and convenience of the device for its users. SOLUTION: The suction device includes a suction duct 11 with a suction port formed at its one end, a suction pump 2 for applying suction force to the suction duct, a container 3 provided on the suction duct to store a material sucked through the suction port, an open valve 5 to expose a space between the container and the suction pump to open air, sucked material amount measuring means 31 to measure the amount of material stored in the container, and control means 8 to stop the operation of suction pump 2 according to the measurement result from the measuring means 31 and open the open valve 5.
