PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration detection device measuring an acceleration inexpensively for itself, and also to provide an acceleration detection method. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with: a sound wave transmission part for outputting a sound wave having a reference frequency; a sound wave reception part fixed on a prescribed position; a frequency difference measuring part for measuring the frequency (reception frequency) of a sound wave received by the sound wave reception part after elapse of a prescribed delay time after the sound wave is outputted; and an acceleration detection part for detecting an acceleration, based on the reference frequency and the reception frequency.
