PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe washing machine capable of reducing the possibility of erroneously detecting the opening/closing of a lid. SOLUTION: The fully automatic washing machine is provided with a front lid part switch 27 and a rear lid part switch 28 for detecting the opening/closing of the lid and outputting the detection signals, and a composite circuit 39 for inputting the detection signals of the lid part switches 27 and 28 and outputting a composite signal for which the detection signals are combined into one. In this case, since a microcomputer 37 judges the detection state of the front lid part switch 27 and the rear lid part switch 28 on the basis of the composite signal inputted from the composite circuit 39 and allows the rotation of a rotary tub 6 when judging that all the lid part switches 27 and 28 are in the state of detecting the closed state of the lid, a safer washing machine can be configured.
