PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent supply device for a dishwasher for stably maintaining the detergent concentration of washing water in the dishwasher to be diluted by the inflow of rinsing water at an appropriate concentration without utilizing a concentration sensor, and its detergent supply method. SOLUTION: In the detergent supply device and the detergent supply method for controlling a detergent supply amount to the washing water in the dishwasher by the opening time of an opening/closing valve, control is carried out so as to open the opening/closing valve by sensing the operation of a rinsing pump for supplying the fixed amount of rinsing water to the washing water tank of the dishwasher and to close the opening/closing valve by the lapse of the time required for supplying the detergent for an amount for maintaining the detergent concentration of the fixed amount of the supplied rinsing water at the appropriate concentration.
