A cleaning apparatus such as a mop, comprises a main rod 1, a wringing tube 3 which is coaxially positioned over the main rod 1 and is slidable along the main rod 1 and turnable in a wringing direction, a fastening device 5 which is mounted on a lower end of the main rod 1, and a cleaning rag assembly 6. The cleaning rag assembly 6 surrounds a periphery of the main rod 1 at a lower end thereof, and has its upper end upper end held on the wringing tube 3 by a connecting ring 40, and its lower end mounted on the fastening device 5. The connecting tube 40 is preferably screwed on the end of the wringing tube 3 or alternatively may be connected to the wringing tube 3 by a type of bayonet connection wherein the connecting ring 40 includes an L-shape depression (44, fig 3) with an entry part (45, fig 3) and a blocking part (46, fig 3) and the wringing tube 3 has an insertion ring (34, fig 3) which carries a projection (39, fig 3) which can be locked in the depression (44, fig 3) of the connection ring 40. The cleaning apparatus may include a unidirectional toothed wheel so that the wringing tube 3 is turnable in one direction only and can include a guiding device 80 which may be a spring. The guiding device 80 serves to widen the diameter of the main rod 1 so that the wringing tube 3 requires a reduced number of turns for wringing the cleaning rag. |
