<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator that makes it possible to increase the amount of displacement of a driven member. <P>SOLUTION: The actuator 1 includes a piezoelectric element 5, a fixed member 3, and a driven member 4. The piezoelectric element 5 is formed by alternately laminating multiple piezoelectric body layers 11 to 15 and multiple internal electrode layers 21 to 24. The fixed member 3 is fixed at one end of the first face 5a of the piezoelectric element 5 perpendicular to the direction of lamination. The driven member 4 is fixed at the other end of the first face 5a and driven relative to the fixed member. When the electric field strength at the outermost piezoelectric body layer positioned in the outermost area on the second face 5b side opposite the first face 5a is lower than the electric field strength at the outermost piezoelectric body layer positioned in the outermost area on the first face 5a side, the piezoelectric element 5 is bent with the first face 5a positioned inside and thereby drives the driven member 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
