<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner forming a high-quality image used in a dual roll developing unit comprising at least two electromagnetic rolls having rotation directions opposite to each other. <P>SOLUTION: The toner comprises toner particles having at least one type of surface additive, the toner particles having an FPIA average circularity of≥0.95, whereby at least 80 wt.% of the total amount of surface additives stays on the surface of the toner particles when an ultrasonic treatment of 4,500-4,700 J/gram of toner is applied. A method for manufacturing a toner is provided which comprises the steps of: mixing a binder resin, a colorant and optional other additives; melting, kneading and milling the resulting mixture; adding at least one surface additive; and modifying the shape or surface of toner particles.
