A method for offering a program guide service and a system thereof are provided to offer the program guide service based on the preference information of a user such as audience rating. A video source generating unit(206) for the program guide processes a delivered video signal, and generates A plurality of sub videos for a broadcasting program which can be provided. A source encoding part(208) encodes a video source for the program guide according to a preset algorithm. A rating processing unit(212) statistically processes the viewing information received from a plurality of broadcast receiving terminals, and then calculates the audience rating rank. A audience rating rank encoding unit(214) encodes information about the calculated audience rating rank.
